VVAF's proven mentorship program helps emerging artists reach their potential. The mentorship program pairs seasoned artists with young, emerging artists to provide one-on-one, personalized support to help mentees reach their artistic goals.
Currently, VVAF is supporting two Indigenous artists with their career growth, by teaching them about how to enhance their media presence, time management, grants and funding support, budgeting, commission negotiations, rates, and artistic development. The program is built on the idea that healthy communities thrive on creativity and diversity of expression, as well as the understanding that the key to fostering these conditions lies in experiential knowledge sharing.
VVAF’s youth mentorship program creates an environment of learning, career development and community connection.
"Lisa Wolfin is an experienced artist and mentor. I’ve had the privilege of working with her for a few years and have learnt a lot from her during our time together at VVAF. She’s given great advice about how to become a successful artist and how to improve your art. I would always look forward to our meetings because she would teach me something new every time! She pushes you to find your own style and not be afraid of taking risks. I’m very grateful to have her as my mentor."
